A good rule of thumb when grocery shopping is to avoid
the center isles as much as possible.
You will find that the center isles are not your friends. They are loaded with foods that are both over processed and loaded with preservatives and salt and are therefore void of any true nutrition. Beware of labels that say they are fortified with vitamins. If food has to have vitamins added for nutritional benefit then they are saturated with synthetic vitamins that may or may not be bioavailable.
Focus on yogurts with active yeast cultures and limit heavy cheeses. Load those whole baked potatoes with reduced fat yogurts instead of butter and sour cream - you may be surprised at just how satisfying the flavor is while you tremendously reduce fat and cholesterol. Experiment with plain yogurts and add your own fresh fruits - they explode with flavor and nutrition. Try to choose meats that are free range and are free of hormones, reducing the intake of red meats as much as possible. Incorporate more fish and chicken in your diet and try substituting nuts, legumes, or whole protein grains such as Quinoa or Barley in place of meat in more of your meals. You will be surprised at how much better you feel and how much more energy is available to you when you begin to incorporate some of these simple changes, not to mention how much weight you may begin to lose without struggle if you are overweight or lethargic.
Get enough rest, relaxation and exercise.
You do not have to run out and join a gym. I have them and they simply are not necessary for good strong bones and muscles if they are not your thing either. Just start walking and stretching every day.
Short Morning Ritual
You can begin to change your life in so many positive ways with simple techniques that take very little time. Either burn a few drops of Uplift essential oil blend in a diffuser or spray the Uplift atomizer all around you and on your clothes. Close your eyes and breathe into your belly as deeply as possible and hold the breath as long as comfortably possible, then release the breath slowly. Do this for 10 repetitions. When your body and mind have then been filled with plenty of life giving oxygen, keep your eyes closed and then think of at least three things that you have to be grateful for. Just acknowledge that you are grateful for these three things - they can be big or small, significant or insignificant, it does not matter - just be grateful for them. Once you have acknowledged your gratitude, follow this wonderful, simple exercise sequence that will help circulation and will make you feel more energized if done for even just a few minutes: Stand straight with your arms out and parallel to the floor with your feet spread wide, but comfortably and make sure your feet are planted firmly. Begin to twist at the waist turning right and left. Let your head float with your shoulders and just turn back and forth as far as you comfortably can. Try it for two minutes. Then, standing in the same position, bring light into yourself and exercise your heart, lungs, shoulders and arms by just flapping your arms up and down clapping your hands on your thighs and bringing them up to clap together over your head or as close as you can. Just fly like a bird and bring energy in and light all around you. Just try the sequence for a few minutes to see how much better you feel. The Uplift essential oil is optional, but you will find that every time you smell a component of the essential blend (which is citrus by design) you are transported back to this rejuvenated state of being.

Please avoid synthetic chemicals, preservatives, emulsifiers and extenders in all products that you apply to your precious instrument. Your body will love you for it.
I cannot stress enough the importance of a healthful diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes and whole grains with limited caffeine, stimulants, red meats and processed foods for healthy skin, hair and nails.
Try to always use only natural organic botanicals for all of your skin care. Understand that performance for your longevity and appearance will be enhanced and improved, however, natural products that do not have harmful additives will look, feel, and be used differently from the over the counter products that you have become accustomed to. They will not always look as pretty because they do not have emulsifiers and nice, but deadly, synthetic colors. They will have to be shaken and sometimes stirred, and because they do not have preservatives or extenders they will usually come in smaller containers as they are more concentrated and will need less volume for effective use. Also they will have to be discarded usually within 6 months to a year of purchase so be sure to follow the label instructions.
